Our Bloomsbury Family

We are Lynn & Jeff Hurd DVM, a husband and wife team and we live in Whitby, Ontario. We have two grown children and a houseful of delightful chihuahuas. We fell in love with the chihuahua breed after we bought Cally, our first. They are such endearing little dogs, full of fun, very loving,  affectionate and loyal and we could not stop at one! We enjoy taking them to dog shows in Canada and the US and they have won many awards and earned many championships.

I started as a breeder of Yorkshire Terriers as a teenager and was showing them for over 20 years. I had many champions including Canada’s top winning yorkie. I started working at a vet clinic as a student and have many years experience as a veterinary technician and clinic administrator. In fact, we met at a clinic in St. John’s NL 35 years ago and have been together ever since!

Jeff is a veterinarian and we had our own vet clinic, Whitby Animal Hospital, here in Whitby, Ontario for 25 years. We retired 4 years ago but Jeff still does a few appointments from time to time. Now we have more time to dedicate to our furry family.

Our daughter, Jillian, is an epidemiologist working in the zoonotic infectious disease department with the Federal government (PHAC) and together with her husband Chad, own a chihuahua, Golden Retriever and a Lab. Jill has worked in Vet clinics her whole life.

Our son, Brandon has his own motion graphics editing business and he and his partner Jessica live in Hamilton ON. They have a dog and cat and Brandon has always had a great love and special bond with our chihuahuas. 

So as you can see, we are a very dog oriented family, surrounded by our furry friends both at home and at work.

Mostly, we breed for ourselves but occasionally we have a pet puppy available to go to an approved, loving home.
